About IIT Madras
IIT Madras has begun its admission process for the academic session 2024. The registration for JEE Main 2024 session 2 has started and will be open till March 2 for IIT Madras admission to the UG engineering courses. Candidates need to qualify JEE Main in order to be eligible for JEE Advanced. The admission to B.Tech courses at IIT Madras is done on JEE Advanced basis. JEE Advanced will be held on May 26 followed by JoSAA counselling for IIT Madras admission in BTech courses.
Indian Institute of Technology Madras was established in 1959. As per NIRF Ranking 2023, IIT Madras has bagged the first position in the overall category. It has also secured the first position in the engineering category. In the innovation category, the institute has bagged the 2nd position. Apart from NIRF, the institute was placed in 250th place at the QS World University Rankings 2023 and 21st rank in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023: Engineering-Petroleum. IIT Madras campus is spread across 630 acres of land and has over 550 faculty, 9700 students and 1250 administrative & supporting staff.
IITM courses are spread across 16 academic departments. It offers multiple courses at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. Apart from the regular courses, it also offers an online B.Sc programme. IIT Chennai admissions in all these programmes are done based on entrance exams. UG admissions are done through JEE Advanced, and admission to the MA and M.Tech programmes are done through GATE. Candidates willing to take admission in the MBA and M.Sc programme need to appear for CAT and JAM respectively.
As per the Indian Institute of Technology Madras placement report 2022, the highest salary package recorded by the management student was Rs 25.3 LPA. The highest stipend recorded at the IITM summer internship placement 2023 was Rs 2,50,000. McKinsey & Company, Accenture, DELL, Amazon, EY, Deloitte, Get my Parking and Blend 360 were some of the top recruiters in the IIT Madras placement drive 2022. The IIT Chennai infrastructure facilities are as per the industry standards and all the necessary steps are taken to provide the students with the perfect learning environment. Indian Institute of Technology Madras placement report 2022 is out. The institute has also released the IITM Summer Internship Placement Report 2023 for management courses. IIT Chennai placement cell looks after the overall functioning from inviting recruiters, conducting pre-placement talks to organising the placement drive. The placement cell at Indian Institute of Technology Madras also conducts necessary training and workshops to make the students interview ready. In the IIT Chennai placement drive 2022, 26 companies visited and 61 students registered for placement. The average salary package recorded was Rs 16.66 LPA. Courses & Admission 2024 at IIT Madras
IIT Madras has 16 academic departments and a few advanced research centres in various disciplines of pure sciences and engineering. The curriculum of IIT Madras is designed in a way to encourage students to balance both academics and research. Several undergraduate, postgraduate, integrated, and doctoral-level courses are available at IIT Madras. It provides B.Tech and dual degree programmes in twelve different disciplines. The dual degree (BS & MS) in biological sciences and physics is available. MA, M.Sc, M.Tech, and MBA programmes are available at IIT Madras at the postgraduate level. Other IIT Madras courses available at the postgraduate level include the AICTE-sponsored QIP, the EMBA programme, and the web-enabled M.Tech programme. IIT Madras admission 2024 for the offered UG as well as PG courses has started on the official website. JEE Advanced qualification is required for admission to BTech programmes. On May 26, IIT Madras will administer JEE Advanced for admission to BTech programmes at all IITs. GATE scores are used to determine admission to the MTech programmes at IIT Madras. Those who want to apply for IIT Madras admission to the offered MSc courses must have to appear and qualify in the IIT JAM. Candidates must pass the CAT in order to be admitted to IIT Madras' Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme.

IIT Madras Application Process 2024
- First and foremost, candidates must meet the eligibility criteria set for the courses.
- Candidates then need to apply, appear and qualify the respective entrance exams. For example, for admission into M.Tech and MA programme, candidates need to clear the GATE, and register in the COAP portal as the COAP registration number and scores is necessary to fill up the IITM application form
- Once the above two points are cleared, candidates need to visit the IIT Madras official website.
- Candidates then need to fill up the application form and attach the necessary documents. Candidates then need to pay the IITM application fee. Candidates must note that the application fee will vary category wise.
- After the application is submitted and the fee is paid, candidates must keep a copy of the filled application form a well as the payment slip for future reference. This will mark the end of the IITM application process.
IIT Madras Cut Off
IIT Madras cutoff is released every year based on the marks scored by the candidates in the respective entrance exams, based on which seats are allotted in the counselling process. For B.Tech admissions, IIT Madras cutoff 2023 is based on the JEE Advanced scores. Those who meet the IIT Chennai cut off 2023 will be eligible for JoSAA counselling. JoSAA has released the IIT Madras cut off 2023 for round 1, round 2, round 3, round 4 , round 5 and round 6 for all the categories.
